Nice looking, comfortable shoe with terrible laces. Who thought using leather for laces was a good idea. We're not survivalists; we can use synthetic materials that make sense for laces. Leather doesn't tie well, not does it stay tied. Leather does shrink when it gets wet then dries, however. I will keep the shoes and replace the laces.

I LOVE Born shoes: their construction is fantastic and they last a long time. I was very sad when they discontinued the Nathaniel so I ordered the Samson as a replacement. As always, the shoe is good looking and very well made. The problem: the top of the leather that wraps around the ankle and heel is at least a half inch higher than other Born shoes and it REALLY GRINDS on the back of the heel. The leather there also lacks the finished padding of other Born shoes so it compounds the rubbing. I love the look of the shoe and the fit is great for the rest of the foot.
